Another week, another win for “NBC Nightly News.”
The Brian Williams newscast averaged 10 million viewers for the week of Feb. 1. ABC’s “World News With Diane Sawyer” averaged 8.6 million. The “CBS Evening News With Katie Couric” averaged 6.5 million.
But Sawyer’s telecast added 70,000 viewers last week while the other two newscasts were down. And ABC was quick to note that Williams’ newscast has lost viewers the last four weeks.
Is there a shift in evening news viewing?
The 25-to-54 age group is most important to news advertisers, and Williams won there, too, with almost 3 million in that age group. Sawyer had 2.5 million, and Couric had nearly 2 million.
